Mzansi TV presenter, actress and DJ, Khanya Mkangisa has reflected on how the social media posts of her being arrested by cops have affected her work.
In May, videos of the 30-year-old in a scuffle with cops who were arresting her for allegedly driving drunk went viral.
It was the second time her run-in with the law went public after in January, Sunday Sun reported that she had allegedly refusing to take responsibility following a hit-and-run incident at the Beluga Complex on Ormonde Street in Bryanston, north of Johannesburg.
Recently Khanya visited the Lunch with Thomas and Pearl Show on Metro FM show where she spoke about her trips to Bali and Nigeria. She told the hosts that her June trip was an escape from the drama she experienced when the video went viral.
“I was going through the most. I’m not gonna say what but we all saw it on social media. I just felt so down. I wanted to find myself and remind myself about my purpose in life.”
“I came back feeling like a different person with so much life in me.”
Pearl then asked Khanya if the social media storm affected her work in any way to which she said yes.
“There was a campaign I was supposed to do. I got the dreaded email that due to the video that is circulating we’re gonna have to … you know.”
“Clients have taken a step back especially the influencing work. It’s really taken a knock which really sucks.”
She later said she had learnt from her mistakes and appreciated the support of people who stood by her.
