Keanu Reeves gets honest about ‘The Matrix’ on 25th anniversary

The Matrix” is widely regarded as the cornerstone of Keanu Reeves‘s filmography, and on its 25th anniversary, the star expressed his deep appreciation for being part of the iconic franchise.

Appearing on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” the “John Wick” star became emotional as he reflected on the upcoming anniversary of the groundbreaking sci-fi film.

“The Matrix changed my life,” Reeves said, pausing for a moment. “And over the years, it’s changed so many other people’s lives in really positive and great ways.

He continued, “As an artist, you hope for that when you get to do a film or tell a story. And when you hear about the number of people I’ve met who have been touched by ‘The Matrix’ in such a positive way… it’s the best feeling.”

Reeves, who originally played Neo in “The Matrix,” reprised his role in 2021’s “The Matrix Resurrections.” His connection to the character and the series remains strong, as he fondly recalls the impact the films have had.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. is planning to breathe new life into the franchise, having announced earlier this year that a fifth installment is in the works. Fans of “The Matrix” can look forward to seeing more from the beloved sci-fi universe in the near future.
