Eight people have died in a collision between a truck and two taxis in the Karoo.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie says mop-up operations are underway.
He said preliminary investigations show that the truck was travelling towards Cape Town when it collided with two taxis.
“We are investigating a culpable homicide [case] and we are busy with mopping-up operations,” Pojie said.
“It’s a horrific accident.”
Pojie said the truck driver is in critical condition and was transported to the Beaufort West provincial hospital.
