Key responsibilities:

Data Processing and Analysis:

Collect, clean, and pre-process data from various sources to ensure its accuracy and reliability.
Assist in conducting exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and correlations within the data.

Data Modelling:

Support the running of the Carbon Emission Models.
Enhancing the accuracy and improving efficiency of the model outputs.
Apply statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to develop models that contribute to business intelligence.
Generate insights and perform analysis on the data provided.
Familiar with cloud fundamentals and applications and running of data Pipelines and analytics.

Reporting and Visualisation:

Summarise results and perform high level quality checks.
Utilise BI tools (such as Power BI/Excel) to carry out statistical analysis and ad hoc reporting as required.
Create clear and informative data visualisations, charts, and dashboards to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
Support the development of regular reports and presentations for different departments within the organization.

Collaborative Projects:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address business challenges using data analysis and insights.
Contribute to group discussions and brainstorming sessions to improve analytical approaches and problem-solving techniques.
Support with generating case studied, white papers and presentations.
Provide support with technical writing and editing as required.

Quality Assurance:

Conduct data quality checks to ensure data integrity and consistency throughout the analysis process.
Suggest improvements to data collection and storage processes to enhance data quality.
Assist with monitoring of the quality of the data received from our farming clients.

Summary of role:

As a Junior Data Analyst at Climate Neutral Group, you will be a key member of the Data team, support the running of our Carbon Emission models that generate carbon credits for our farming clients in South Africa and abroad. You will play a crucial role in supporting our data-driven initiatives. You will work closely with cross functional team of experienced analysts and data scientists to gather, process, analyse, and visualise data to provide actionable insights. This position is ideal for a self-starter with a passion for data and a desire to grow their skills in various aspects of data analysis and reporting.

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience in data analysis, data processing, modelling, or data science, either through coursework, internships, or practical projects.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using tools such as Python, R, SQL, or similar programming languages.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or matplotlib.
  • Basic understanding of statistical concepts and machine learning algorithms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • An analytical mindset.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Self-starter with a willingness to learn.
  • Some experience with data cleaning and data processing.
  • Creative ability and out-of-the-box thinking.
