There were signs of trouble to come, says Bheki Cele on July unrest

Police Minister Bheki Cele has spent Friday afternoon testifying at the South African Human Rights Commission investigating the cause of the July unrest.

Cele says he foresaw the problems. He says he went to Nkandla to try and defuse the situation.

Cele said it took the whole day for former President Jacob Zuma to hand himself over to start serving his jail term.

Zuma’s imprisonment sparked the July unrest which claimed 337 lives in an explosion of violence and mayhem.
