Police commissioner Fannie Masemola questions July unrest intelligence

National police commissioner Fannie Masemola insists there was no intelligence before last year’s unrest.
The July unrest resulted in over 300 deaths and R50-billion in damage to the economy.
“There is a difference between intelligence and information and rumours.
“To say the people’s mood is quite tense, there might be protest that is not good enough…. if you say there might be protest: who is going to protest? And where? But to throw open statements; it does not assist.”
