DA unaware Julie Seton was heading to ActionSA

The Democratic Alliance (DA) said it didn’t know that its councillor Advocate Julie Seton was leaving the party for ActionSA.

Seton was unveiled as a new ActionSA member during a media briefing in Ennerdale on Saturday.

She will be joining the party’s strategic litigation department.

The former DA PR Councillor in the Knysna municipality said she felt helpless with the state of the municipality prior to resigning on Thursday.

Seton said she feels that she can contribute better as an ActionSA member than as a DA councillor.

However, DA’s constituency head in Knysna Dion George said Seton never expressed this to him.

“Julie did contact me and she did indicate that she would be remaining a DA member – which was obviously untrue. I have no further comments.”

The DA has declined to comment on allegations by ActionSA that more of its Western Cape councillors want to jump ship.
