Judge Makhubele calls for evidence of claims against her at tribunal

Disgraced Pretoria High Court Judge Tintswalo Makhubele is back in the hot seat on Friday.

She is set to resume her testimony before the Judicial Conduct Tribunal probing allegations of gross misconduct against her.

The complaint against Makhubele is that she allegedly sat as both a judge and chair of the interim PRASA board at the same time and was involved in conduct unbecoming of her office during her time at the state rail agency.

After a slew of delays, Judge Tintswalo Mkahubele finally kicked off her evidence last month, when she testified for two days before proceedings were adjourned to this week.

They resumed, with Makhubele still on the stand, on Wednesday and are set down to run until Friday.

She has denied the allegations against her on the stand and on Thursday said there was no evidence that she had any motivation.

“There’s no allegation I stood to gain anything from all these things. It’s five years now, if anyone had any evidence we would have it on the table now.”

She continues on the stand on Friday.

Once she wraps up her evidence-in-chief, the evidence leader will also still have a chance to grill her.
