Joburg Social Housing Company denies Samwu’s allegations

The City of Johannesburg has until the end of this month to deal with corruption allegations within its ranks. Municipal workers union Samwu gave the city a deadline this week after it said it had found millions of rands in rate payers’ money had been used unduly.
The union says rot and corruption are prevalent at the Human Settlements Department and the Johannesburg Social Housing Company.
But the social housing company says their work is in order and has challenged Samwu to lay charges with law enforcement authorities.
“What has been done, has been done in line with policy and there is evidence that is documented that everything that has been done was in line with policy, so we are putting it to the colleagues from Samwu that if there is something that was done incorrectly, they must go to law enforcement agencies and lay the charge,” said Themba Mathibe from Johannesburg Social Housing Company.
