The Gauteng government is vacating all its buildings in Johannesburg.
The decision comes after three firefighters died while battling a blaze in the city.
The building is used by several provincial departments and isn’t compliant with health and safety regulations.
Premier David Makhura says the process to move offices has started.
“At this stage, we have seven other buildings and I have taken a decision that we will have to find temporary accommodation for staff in all those buildings,” said Makhura.
He further stated the department would wait for information on which buildings can be renovated and which would have to be demolished.
