Police have made a breakthrough in their investigation into the stabbing of a JG Meiring High School learner.
The grade 11 learner was stabbed in the head in front of the school’s gates on Monday afternoon.
Fellow learners then helped him back onto the school grounds for safety, where he waited for an ambulance to treat him and transport him to the hospital.
The police’s Frederick Van Wyk has revealed that three suspects were arrested on Wednesday.
“Late Wednesday afternoon, three suspects, two males and a female were arrested following a stabbing incident on Monday the 12th of February where a 16-year-old learner was stabbed outside a high school. They are due to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court once charged.”
Parents protested outside the Goodwood school on Tuesday morning.
The concerned group said such attacks are not uncommon and there’ve been several fights and other incidents of violence involving learners at the school recently.
Parents and learners have accused the school principal and the provincial education department of failing to act, while children’s lives are in danger.
