The position is for a Cape Town based company working along-side software teams in the UK specifically to assist retailers, looking for a competitive edge. The successful candidate will modify, develop, test and maintain applications across a variety of platforms (ie Web, desktop, service based or scheduled processes). Assist data based developers developer efficient and effective code as well as work with Business analysts and QA analyst completing the whole development cycle.

Experience and Skills

Relevant Tertiary qualification (Degree) eg. Software development advantageous

Enterprise development is Essential

4 + years commercial work using Java

Experience in a Scrum, Agile Based environment

Exposure to BBD/TDD

Basic JSE API (up to v7)

GUI development (Swing/SWT)

Java 5.0 Language fundamentals (Java 7 preferred)

JBDC

J2EE

Servlets

JAXP / JAXB

Logging frameworks (SLF4,Log4)

EJB(MDBs), JSP & HTML (incl v5.0), JSP Custom Tags,

JavaScript / AJAX

AOP

ehCache

Web frameworks (Struts/JSF,PrimeFaces)

Spring (Core, Web, Remote, Security)

ORM Concepts and Frameworks (myBatis)

XML – DTD/XSD, XSL(XSL:FO), Core Concepts

Core RDMS Concepts (Oracle, BD2, SQL)

OOA/D

Design Patterns (GoF), Applications Architecture, Technical Architecture, Enterprise Patterns

Tomcat, Webspere, Apache Camel

Junit, Mockito, Mavern, Retail base Domain knowledge

Python, Jython

Shell Scripting
