Calls for Jagersfontein mining company to provide report after dam wall collapse

Jagersfontein residents are afraid to return to their community.

They also feel neglected by the government and the mining company as there is no communication regarding the way forward.

Kopanong Local Municipality and residents’ legal representative Andries Nkome says the mining company must provide a report to assure the community that the dam wall is secure.

A mine dam wall collapsed earlier this month and killed at least one person and left over 300 homeless.

Several people are reportedly still missing.
