Jagersfontein homes to be rebuilt within six months – Mashatile

Deputy President Paul Mashatile is asking the people of Jagersfontein in the Free State to wait a bit longer for government to rebuild their homes. Last year the dam walls of the Jagersfontein mine collapsed leaving hundreds homeless and infrastructure destroyed.
Mashatile visited the area on Tuesday and says plans are in the pipeline to restore what many feel may soon become a ghost town.
“We obviously don’t expect that change will come overnight but we have now started and even with the houses, as you can see the show houses here, they have now started with the project so people should be able to return to their homes properly in the next six months,” Mashatile said.
