ANC decline to comment on Jacob Zuma’s health

The ANC has declined to confirm media reports that former President Jacob Zuma is in Cuba for medical treatment.

However, the party said that Zuma was not present at the National Executive Council meeting in Boksburg on Sunday. The Jacob Zuma Foundation announced last month – the former president had been hospitalised for a week.

He was discharged on the same day the KwaZulu-Natal High Court denied his appeal against an earlier defamation judgment. Zuma also failed to attend his second round of questions at the State Capture inquiry last month – because of his illness.

The party’s national spokesperson Pule Mabe commented, “well, like yourselves we have seen media reports that the former president’s health might be ailing. If that is true, we of course wish him well and a speedy recovery. We have no further details, except what we saw in the press.
