Constitutional Court issues new directives in Jacob Zuma matter

The Constitutional Court has issued new directives in the IEC case over the eligibility of former President Jacob Zuma contesting for a parliamentary seat.
The Deputy Chief Justice now wants clarity on IEC Commissioner Janet Love’s media comment that Zuma was not eligible to return to the national assembly.
That was before the Electoral Court ruled in Zuma’s favour.
The IEC decided to bar the former president due to his 2021 prison sentence.
Zuma was sentenced to 15 months in prison for contempt of court, for refusing to appear before the State Capture Commission.
The contesting parties must now file their responses by 5 pm on Tuesday.
