Ivory Park residents relocated after flash floods

Ivory Park residents near Tembisa in Midrand have been relocated to a temporary shelter after flash floods on Friday night.

One person has died after being washed away by floodwaters.

The three people who were missing have since been found and are receiving medical care.

Over 180 people have been displaced after 38 homes were destroyed

Tapiwa Marima from Gift of the Givers says they are making provisions for people to have food and shelter.

“Since yesterday we have managed to work with disaster management from both angles from the Municipality of Ekurhuleni and the City of Johannesburg,” he said.

“We managed to put people in base shelters and we managed to provide hot meals.”
