Tensions have escalated and fears are mounting following the funeral of the Hamas senior leader, Ismail Haniyeh. Iran has informed the United States of America, through its friends in the region, that it will launch a retaliatory attack after the assassination of Haniyeh at a hotel in Tehran.
Hezbollah has issued similar threats after one of its senior commanders was killed by the Israeli Defence Force.bHaniyeh’s funeral was held in Qatar where he spent time after fleeing the Gaza Strip.
The killing of the Hamas leader has sparked fears in the Middle East as Iran’s threats to retaliate will affect peace and security in that region.
Hamas has also called on those who support Palestine in its quest for freedom to join the International Day of Protests tomorrow.
The protests aim to highlight the plight of Palestinians in Gaza and in those areas that are occupied by Israeli settlers. The International Court of Justice has recently ruled that those settlements are illegal and violate international law.
