SIU gets go-ahead to investigate RAF and 2 others

The Special Investigating Unit will start probing allegations of corruption and maladministration at the Road Accident Fund.

This was authorised by President Cyril Ramaphosa who also put his signature to probes into Overstrand Local Municipality and Alexkor – a state-owned mining company.

The proclamations authorize the SIU to use its powers to subpoena bank statements and cellphone records, search and seize evidence, and interrogate witnesses under oath.
