Interpol to support SA in combating international syndicates

The Secretary General of Interpol Dr Jürgen Stock says his organisation will continue to support South Africa to fight international syndicates that have recently conducted their activities in South Africa.

Stock is in the country to hand over a new technology that will assist the South African Police Service in fighting cross-border crime. South Africa is part of 196 countries that have joined Interpol. Dr Stock says crime has become increasingly complex.

“I’m here in South Africa to hand over a new device that Interpol is now using to bring relevant police information from our 196 member countries to the frontline of policing. Mobile devices that can be used in any track at critical borders or in any police operation. South Africa is part of this pilot. Any information exchange is key to dismantle these crime organised groups that are really operating across the continents.
