Police union calls for internal audit

The Independent Policing Union of South Africa is calling for strong policing leadership.
The union says Police Commissioner Sehlahle Fannie Masemola must intervene and find solutions to internal problems contributing to the public’s loss of faith in SAPS.
The union’s Mpho Kwinika says an audit of the police department is required to improve the state of policing in the country.
“This is a very serious issue of concern for all of us.”
“SAPS members feel like their services are no longer needed. He needs to do an audit,” Kwinika said.
“Some people have been transferred out of their departments. People with serious experience and qualifications are not being used to do the right jobs.
“With the new organizational design the police commissioner needs to put these people back so they can serve South Africans. People want to be protected and currently, the police service is flat on that.”
