Parliament’s Presiding Officers say the real work of restoring Parliament will intensify this year. Monday marks a year since the National Assembly was gutted by a deliberate fire that ripped through several floors.
The building’s roof collapsed and offices belonging to members of Parliament were destroyed.
Parliament says the fire imposed a collective national trauma that will be etched in the minds of South Africans for years to come.
