Pravin Gordhan denies approving intelligence gathering at Eskom

As several investigations into corruption within Eskom are being conducted, Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has told parliament’s standing committee on public accounts that he never approved the intelligence gathering exercise which turned out to be costly.

Gordhan said, “let me then move on to apparently to a statement made by the previous interim chair of the previous board, Professor Makgoba that I have approved intelligence gathering, and implicitly or otherwise he was suggesting I gave approval for what is turning out to be a problematic R50-million project initiated by the CEO.”

“So firstly I refute what Professor Makgoba is saying, with great respect to him, he’s got it absolutely wrong.”
