ANC’s Integrity Commission wants Bongo to step aside

The ANC’s Integrity Commission wants the party’s NEC to suspend Bongani Bongo from all political activities.
That’s until he’s cleared of corruption charges levelled against him.
It also slapped Bongo on the wrist for accusing Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan of being behind his arrest.
The Integrity Commission says his actions have caused unnecessary tensions and divisions within the party.
Bongo is the first high profile politician to be arrested as the inquiry into state capture and the rot at Eskom slowly comes to light.
He’s been accused of bribing the chair of a Parliamentary inquiry into the state-owned parastatal.
The former state security minister has refuted the allegations and says the charges are a plot to discredit him.
