Popular fitness instructor shot dead during live zoom session – Video

South African fitness fanatics are trying to deal with the shock of having witnessed a murder and robbery live on Zoom on Wednesday night, 10 November.
Their trauma is unmeasurable as they shared their stories of what they witnessed during a fitness session, where well-known instructor Lawrence Masinge was shot dead.
Lawrence has worked as a fitness instructor with different brands, including the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
According to reports, he was shot in the head by unknown men, who then continued rob his place while the session was ongoing. The people who were in the session claimed he was shot eight times.
Shortly after the news of his death broke, social media users started sharing heartfelt messages of condolences, with some calling for justice.
“Lawrence was a great person and coach. This is a huge loss for many of us,” said Noleen.
While Phuti, who was in the session, shared: “Last night, I witnessed the most horrific scene ever. We were being trained by an amazing trainer, Lawrence, and he was brutally murdered live mid-Zoom cardio session. I pray for his family to be comforted. We are robbed.”

Thandi also commented: “If you were ever an active person living in Tshwane, you would know him because he was so passionate about fitness. May his beautiful soul rest in peace.”
Lawyer and social advocate Tumi Sole said: “Lawrence was brutally murdered in his home yesterday evening while conducting an online fitness class. Anyone with information is requested to contact the police #JusticeForLawrenceMasinge #RIPLawrenceMasinge.”
Policespokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said they have launched a manhunt for the suspects that killed the much-loved fitness instructor.
“Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects after a 40-year-old fitness instructor was shot and killed in Saulsville, Tshwane, on Wednesday 10 November 2021, at approximately 19h20,” he said.
According to Masondo the motive for the killing cannot be confirmed at this stage.
“Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist apprehend the suspects to please call the nearest police station or crime stop on 08600 10111. Information can also be given anonymously via MySAPS App that can be downloaded from any smartphone.” he said.
