Instagram users have received a new refreshed look

Instagram lovers can now give the popular app a totally refreshed look and it’s something WhatsApp fans can still only dream of. The Facebook-owned service has just pushed out an update which now enables a stunning dark mode to be activated.
This design is available for iPhone users who have recently switched to the latest iOS 13 operating system. Once the latest version of Instagram is downloaded, fans will instantly get the new colour scheme when they have Dark Mode set as their default on the device.
That means you can’t simply switch this setting on within the app itself – instead you’ll need to head to Settings > Display > then toggle Light or Dark modes.
The update is available now for some users with a global rollout expected in the coming days. Instagram now joins Messenger with this dark look but another of Facebook’s app still remains without this setting. WhatsApp users have been desperately waiting for news on a Dark Mode with rumours suggesting that this feature is in development.
It’s thought the team is working hard to support Dark Mode across both iOS and Android platforms, with numerous references to the new option surfacing in beta updates.
The first nods to a Dark Mode appeared in September last year, so hopefully, WhatsApp is well on track with the design tweak. There’s still no official word on when this update will be released but with Instagram now joining the dark side it could arrive on WhatsApp sooner rather than later.
Although WhatsApp’s Dark Mode remains a mystery there is another new feature that could prove popular with its billions of users. A recent update may have revealed that WhatsApp is planning to launch messages that self destruct after a set amount of time.
Like all good forthcoming features, the arrival of “Disappearing Messages” was uncovered by @WABetaInfo, which trawls through the latest beta software releases from WhatsApp to sniff out clues what could be coming next. According to updates found in the latest WhatsApp beta, the feature will be available in group chats.
Based on the screenshot shared by @WABetaInfo, group chats will be able to set a blanket rule about Disappearing Messages – so that every text message, photo, video, or audio clip shared in a chat will delete itself after 5 seconds, or 1 hour. We’ll have more news on the latest WhatsApp features as soon as they are announced.
