India is poised to officially become the world’s most populous nation in April with over 1.4 billion people, according to the United Nations.
Estimates by some organisations suggest it may already have overtaken China. This comes after the global population surpassed 8 billion at the end of last year.
Having so many people in India brings both opportunities and challenges for the country as it tries to lift millions of citizens out of poverty.
