One on One with Upcoming Musician – Septic. I had a moment with Mzansi’s Upcoming Musician and she gave me a few minutes of her time and I thought to ask her a few questions of my own. Check out the questions I had for her and her answers below… We spiced it up with a few pictures!
Who is SEPTIC and what’s your real name?
Septic’s Real name is Seipati Phutiyagae a young beautiful lady born in 1996 on 17 December. Septic is a South African rapper, songwriter, a Hip-hop dancer and A Storyteller. She was born in Klerskdorp and raised by her great-grandmother in Shwaizer Reneke a small town in Northwest.
What got you into music?
It’s started with poetry and the love of Hip-hop. And with all the tribulations I had to go through in my childhood singing and rap were 2 things that comforted me with the help of hip-hop dance, That’s when I actually realised that I love what am doing and I have to stick to it.
Who are your musical influences?
Beyonce, Chris Brown and Rihanna. They are such great performers and Artists. They have told so many great stories through just music. Their music touched me and I learned a lot from listening to them.
Apart from Music what other talents do you have?
I mentioned that I dance hip-hop as well. And one of my talents it’s Drawing.
What projects are you working on now?
Right now I have been focusing more on my music career and trying to build a good foundation for my business consulting company.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In 5 years I want to see myself very far hey. Would like to be one of the most successful Entrepreneurs in South Africa and a Full international artist. What I am saying is that I don’t only want to be known in my country I want to be KNOWN in this World and respected for the music I produce.
How many songs have you written and when can we expect an album
All in all, I have 8 Singles. You can expect an Album yearly 2019. And stay tuned for my next two single coming soon which will be on iTunes, sound cloud, sound click and many more.
Have you faced any challenges in the music industry?
A lot ..Being a young lady and trying to get a breakthrough into a music industry it’s a hard thing. you just get lucky if you met the right production and those who will respect you as a woman and respect your talent too.
What advice would you give to others who want to pursue a career in music
My advice is that no matter how hard it gets keep pushing and pushing. Make a name for yourself market yourself and don’t wait for record labels to come and sign you. Go to them and show them a reason why they should sign you. Believe you can do it.
