Mathole residents living in fear due to illegal mining

Johannesburg Metro Police are continuing their hunt for zama zamas around the city.

Earlier, a shoot-out ensued between officers and illegal miners in Mathole.

A community member in the area has detailed how unsafe they feel due to illegal mining.

It comes as police spent the weekend targeting the known hideouts of alleged zama zama’s around Johannesburg.

Turf wars between rival gangs have left many living in fear, while several miners have also died.

One of four women who reported popular South African musician and presenter, Jub Jub for rape, assault, and attempted murder has spoken out. The alleged victim, who cannot be named, told the Sunday Times that the experience was humiliating.
