
Early childhood development is in crisis. That’s the word from the City of Johannesburg after it shut down two illegal childcare centres.
Several provincial departments raided pre-schools in Sophiatown on Wednesday.
The operation follows the deaths of two children at an unregistered crèche in the area, apparently after they ingested rat poison.
More raids are expected.
