ANC rejects IEC capture accusations

The African National Congress’s (ANC) Deputy Secretary-General Jessie Duarte has rejected accusations that the party has captured the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

The party held a media briefing on Tuesday on the back of the IEC’s decision to reopen candidate registration for the upcoming local government elections.

Opposition parties are criticizing the move saying the commission is siding with the ruling party by reopening registration.
