Bafana Bafana coach names 31 man squad for FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers
Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, Thursday announced his squad for the two Fifa 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe on 3 September away, and Ghana three days later at FNB Stadium.
Broos has called up the bulk of the players that won the Cosafa Cup last month in Gqeberha under interim coach Morena Ramoreboli.
Also included in the squad is the bunch of players who participated in the Tokyo Olympics Under U-23 team led by coach David Notoane, leaving players such as Itumeleng Khune, Themba Zwane, Sifiso Hlanti, captain Thulani Hlatshwayo.
These players were also left out when Broos announced his squad for the friendly match against Uganda in June.
Broos said he found good players in the Cosafa Cup and the Olympics that he didn’t know.
He revealed that he watched all the matches and his ambition is to qualify for the major tournaments hence the continuity.
“I want to go to Qatar, I like to be in Afcon in 2023, I want to World Cup in 2026, this is my ambition, this is ambition I want to put in my team,” he said at the press conference.

Midfielders: Kobamelo Kodisang, Sipho Mbule, Teboho Mokoena, Mothobi Mvala, Sphelele Mkhulise and Sphephelo Sithole
Forwards: Yufus Maart, Siyethemba Sithebe, Thabiso Kutumela, Bongokuhle Hlongwane, Gift Links, Evidence Makgopa, Victor Letsoalo, Percy Tau, and Lurther Singh
