HT: Egypt 1 – 0 Zimbabwe #AFCON2019

A few mistakes creeping into Zimbabwe’s play at the end of this half, but Egypt has failed to punish their opposition on several occasions.

Will they live to regret that? The hosts lead at the break, but Zimbabwe can take plenty of confidence from that first half display.

After Egypt and Zimbabwe have finished in Cairo this evening, they’ll have matches against DR Congo and Uganda to look forward to.

DR Congo finished second to Zimbabwe in their qualification group, and their squad includes plenty of British-based players, with West Ham defender Arthur Masuaku, Everton’s Yannick Bolasie, Middlesbrough’s Britt Assombalanga, Birmingham’s Jacques Maghoma and Celtic midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu all in contention for starts.

The Uganda team, ranked 10 places higher than DR Congo at 80th in the world rankings, features Yeovil Town defender Bevis Mugabi.
