JSC recommends John Hlophe suspension

The Judicial Service Commission has recommended to President Cyril Ramaphosa that Judge President John Hlophe be suspended.

Hlophe has been found guilty of misconduct.

He attempted to influence two justices of the court in 2008 to impact the outcome of former President Jacob Zuma’s corruption case.

Hlophe has been granted leave to appeal the JSC process, which found him guilty of impeachable gross misconduct.

The National Assembly will need to vote on whether he should be impeached.
