Outgoing Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba will officially leave office on Wednesday.
In a video posted on Twitter, Mashaba went through a list of what he refers to as ‘key successes’ achieved during his tenure as mayor.
“I would like to thank Johannesburg residents from the bottom of my heart. Serving you has been the greatest privilege of my life”, said Mashaba.
Mashaba announced his resignation from the Democratic Alliance last month.
He had been executive mayor of Johannesburg since 2016.
