Heavy snowfall: Arrive Alive urges stranded motorists to remain in vehicles until help arrives

Arrive Alive has urged motorists stranded in snowy areas to remain inside their vehicles until help arrives.
The warning comes as parts of Eastern Cape and Kwazulu-Natal experienced heavy snowfall over the past two days.
The organization said motorists must stay hydrated and avoid alcoholic drinks.
Arrive Alive said motorists who may find themselves stranded must display a brightly coloured cloth or light to signal for assistance.
The road safety group said drivers must run their vehicle’s engine for about 10 minutes every hour to stay warm
It has further urged motorists to be vigilant and ensure that exhaust pipes are clear of snow to prevent monoxide poisoning.
The organization added that drivers must dim their vehicle’s lights to help save power and assist emergency personnel in identifying them.
