Emergency services on high alert for heavy rains

Johannesburg Emergency Services are on high alert as heavy rains are expected to persist throughout the weekend.
The rain has caused widespread flooding in some parts of Johannesburg, with Bryanston and Douglasdale mostly affected.
Motorists are urged to be extra cautious while driving due to wet and slippery conditions.
The water rescue and disaster management teams are also on high alert.
The South African Weather Service has issued a level 4 yellow warning for disruptive and heavy rain in Gauteng, western Mpumalanga, and the western Bushveld of Limpopo.
At the same time, KwaZulu-Natal disaster management teams are on high alert as heavy downpours are expected to batter parts of the province.
The KZN Cooperative Government Department says some parts of the province have already experienced heavy rains.
Disaster management teams are closely monitoring the inclement weather.
Communities living in low-lying areas are urged to take the necessary precautions.
Motorists are warned against driving through flooded areas.
