New daily COVID-19 infections are on an upward trend. Almost 3,000 cases recorded in the past 24 hours and the Eastern Cape is leading the surge.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, greeted by healthcare workers frustrated with salaries and working conditions, has promised more beds and doctors for the province.
Mkhize said he met with many officials and the outcomes of the discussions are concerning.
He said, “the issues of the PPE from where I sit, are being handled daily now at a facility level. We have set up occupational health and safety committees which involve members of unions and staff management so the issues of PPE should not be a discussion. Mkhize said PPE shortages should be resolved immediately.

The Lilongwe Magistrate Court has released Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary.
