Health Minister Zweli Mkhize will make an announcement on South Africa’s response in consideration of the FDA’s decision to advise on the temporary suspension of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the United States. This, over concern over potential links to a rare type of blood clot.
The disorder appears similar to that observed in rare cases of people who were vaccinated using the AstraZeneca jab. The cases involving the J&J vaccine affected women between the ages of 18 and 48.
Symptoms occurred six to 14 days after vaccination. The South African Health Ministry says it’s looking into this.

Norma Mngoma, the estranged wife of former finance minister Malusi Gigaba, who was meant to spill the beans on her husband’s alleged relations with the Guptas has now withdrawn from testifying at the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.
Mngoma was meant to begin her testimony at 4 pm on Tuesday after it was initially rescheduled from Friday. Learn more
