Health minister commits to addressing Rahima Moosa hospital challenges

Health Minister Joe Phaahla says he is committed to addressing the challenges at Rahima Moosa Hospital. He was speaking at the release of an investigation into the state of the facility.

It confirmed patients were subjected to inhumane conditions. For us, what we want to commit to the team, professor Makgoba and his team for the very good work which has been done,” the minister said.

“We want to commit to working together with the province to expedite the remedial action which is required in terms of the infrastructure which must be attended to, but also in terms of the management capacity which is quite key, because the report highlight deficiencies in management.

“We’re also aware of the fact that some of these areas, it’s not purely the issue of money, it’s also just management deficiencies.
