Gauteng remains COVID-19 epicentre, says Health Dept

Acting Health Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi, says Gauteng continues to be the epicentre of COVID-19 infections, accountable for 60 percent of new cases.

COVID-19 infections increased by over 21,000 over the last 24-hours.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) said 382 more COVID-19 related deaths, take South Africa’s death toll to 61,029.

The health department held a press briefing on the progress made by the government in fighting the coronavirus on Friday.
