
The National Health Department says two more cases of the MPOX disease have been detected in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. This brings to 24 the total number of cases in the country.
The number of deaths linked to the disease remains at three. MPOX is an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus. Symptoms include skin rash, swollen lymph nodes, fever, muscle and backaches.
Health Department spokesperson, Foster Mohale says these two new cases come 26 days since the last MPOX cases were reported in South Africa.

“Contact tracing and monitoring activities are ongoing in the affected communities in both provinces, and the Department urges all the identified contacts to cooperate with health officials during contact tracing for screening and possible diagnosis to prevent further transmission of this preventable and treatable disease.

The up-and-coming South African musician and producer Lizwi Wokuqala, who tragically died in a car crash with Lesotho-born musician Malome Vector, was laid to rest at his home in Durban.
His funeral service took place at Newtown Hall, Inanda, and he was buried at Phoenix Cemetery, north of Durban, on Sunday, 4 August. Meanwhile, Malome Vector will be laid to rest in Lesotho on Saturday, 10 August. Read more
