Harry Maguire stripped off Manchester United Captaincy

With speculations on the rise that Harry Maguire will leave Manchester United this summer, it comes as no surprise that the England defender has been removed as the club’s captain. Harry Maguire took to social media where he announced that he is no longer the Manchester United Football Club captain.

The announcement he shared on his Facebook expressed how he had a meeting with the manager Erik ten Hag and this is what he said:

After discussions with the manager today he has informed me he is changing captain. He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt.
So I wanted to say a massive thank you to the Manchester United fans for all their brilliant support whilst I’ve been wearing the armband.

Since the day I took on the role, three and half years ago, it’s been a huge privilege to lead Manchester United and one of the proudest moments of my career to date. It’s one of the greatest honours in club football. I’ve done everything I possibly could to help United be successful – on and off the field.

I will always be grateful to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for first giving me the responsibility and I wish whoever now takes it on every success and they will have my full support.

It was reported earlier that Westham United are keen to sign Harry Maguire although they had concerns with the substantial salary demands that come with signing the England defender. What’s next for Harry Maguire? Will he hang on and try to fight for his spot at Man United or will he take this as an opportunity to try new challenges?

Remember Harry Maguire spent most of his time on the bench last season as the United manager preferred Verane, Martinez and sometimes Luke Shaw to get the job done… We can only wait and see where Harry Maguire ends up. We wish him all the best!
