Job Title: Handyman
Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Technical Manager
Location: Benoni
Key Purpose:
The purpose of the job is have a person with multi-tradesman skills that are required to carry out general maintenance and repairs to Workshop, outside and inside Office building.
Responsible for all upkeep and repair duties including maintaining green spaces, identifying the need for repairs, responding to maintenance requests, and servicing company equipment and run with any ad-hoc errands.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Carry out all kinds of carpentry and general handyman duties
Perform preventative maintenance tasks on a regular basis
Fix electrical fixtures and handle plumbing/leakage problems effectively
Determine tools and equipment needed for individual repair or maintenance job
Maintain and organize building walls, floors and ceilings
Perform basic tasks including painting and filling crevices, clean facilities and managing maintenance repairs.
Perform repairs on company machinery, equipment or appliances.
Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.
Regularly check community spaces to identify issues with litter, mechanical failure or breakdowns.
Respond to clients’ maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
Repair plumbing, electrical and safety systems.
Maintain the cleanliness of outside spaces such as parking lots and sidewalks.
Oversee the sprinkler system and trash containers on the company premises.
Conduct performance assessments of company appliances
Provide Company with support and guidance on maintaining their equipment.
Serve as messenger
Perform repair and maintenance tasks on doors, windows, furniture, fixtures and appliances in an effective and timely manner
Investigate possible problems and propose solutions
Qualifications / Experience:
Grade 12/ Matric
Relevant Qualification/ Certificate
A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Handyman or a similar role
General Handy skills
Ability to perform routine and scheduled maintenance
Valid Driver’s License
