Horror as man found dead in a park; his ear cut off and skin of his hands peeled off
Residents of Mamelodi West were woken by a gruesome discovery on the morning of Sunday, 13 June.
A man identified as Frank Madlala (60) was found dead in a park in the Tshwane kasi with one of his ears cut off and the skin of his hands peeled off.
His brother Alfred Motsepe said Frank left home on Saturday at noon, saying he was going to see a friend. He told his mum he’d return soon to have a bath but never came back.
“He even left his clothes on the bed to show he was planning to come back soon,” he said.
Alfred said on Sunday morning he was shocked to receive a call from the police asking him to identify his brother’s body.
“When I got there his body was just lying there,” he said.
“That shook me. I don’t know what happened to him, or who could have done this terrible thing.
“My brother was a humble man loved by people.”
Alfred said his brother was very happy as he had just received his first pension grant.
“He was looking forward to enjoying his pension money,” he said.
Alfred pleaded with residents to come forward if they had any information about what could have happened to Frank.
“Any person who might have seen him before his murder should please come forward with information,” he said.
Alfred said his family was left shattered by the death and needed answers.
Captain Mavela Masondo said the police were looking for suspects.
He said they were alerted by members of the public that there was a body in an open space next to a pub.
He said the victim had several bruises on his body.
“The motive for the killing is unknown and the police are investigating a murder case,” he said.
