2 girls found in the bush with gunshot wounds

Two friends left their rented room to do their shopping at a nearby shopping centre but they didn’t return to the room in the Mini Town area in Hammarsdale, Durban.

A search was launched for Sithembile Mtshali (22) and Nokulunga Mhlongo (21), but only their bodies were found in the bush on Tuesday.

They had gunshot wounds.

Sithembile’s uncle Bongani Mathula (45) told Daily Sun they were informed on Monday that the girls didn’t come back to their rented room.

“We were very worried as we didn’t know where they could be. We searched for them with no luck. We were shocked when we were informed about the gruesome discovery,” he said.

He said their bodies had multiple gunshot wounds.

“I don’t understand why they were killed in such a brutal manner. They rented a room in Mini Town because they were looking for jobs.”

KZN police spokeswoman Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed that two women were fatally shot. Gwala said they sustained gunshot wounds to the heads.

“The motive for the killing is unknown.

“Murder cases were opened at Mpumalanga Police Station in eThekwini for investigation,” said Gwala.
