Govt making progress on Sedibeng service delivery issues: Lesufi

The government says it’s making progress in tackling service delivery challenges in Sedibeng. On Wednesday, Deputy President Paul Mashatile was in the area as a follow-up to last year’s service delivery imbizo. Gauteng’s Premier Panyaza Lesufi joined the deputy president during the visit.

Lesufi says R400-million has been set aside for Sedibeng municipality to deal with service delivery issues. Some of the daily challenges facing residents include a lack of electricity, heaps of rubbish piling up on roadsides and sewage spills.

He said, “there are five critical issues in this area if you can resolve them it means that government has started to make a dent on service delivery. It’s the issue of water, electricity, waste removal, health infrastructure.”

“Those are the areas, so today almost 35 news cars dedicated to remove blockages of sewer have been dispatched…the National Department of Water has budgeted R400-million for this area alone to deal with matters related to water and sewage
