Government urged to take action against statutory rape

Teenage pregnancy continues to be a concern across South Africa. Reports indicate that nearly 12,000 children in the country aged between 10 and 14, fell pregnant last year.

Many of these pregnancies, arising from statutory rape, go unreported because of the attached stigma and fear.

Now the government is being urged to intervene and curb this disturbing and ever-increasing rape of minors.
