Golden Arrow bus stoned & torched in Driftsands
Golden Arrow has confirmed an attack on a bus carrying passengers in the Driftsands area.
The incident happened at around 7 pm on Tuesday.
At this stage, the motive for the attack is unclear but it appears to be linked to protest action in that area.
Golden Arrow’s Bronwen Dyke-Beyer: “At about 7 o’clock on Tuesday evening, a Golden Arrow bus carrying passengers in the Driftsands area was targeted by unknown assailants who pelted the oncoming bus with stones. Once the driver brought the bus to a halt, he & the passengers were forced to exit the bus. The perpetrators then set the bus on fire and it was completely gutted as a result. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and a case has been opened with SAPS.”
