Mine management should be held accountable for hostage drama – Solidarity on Gold One Mine strike

Trade union Solidarity says Gold One Mine management should be held accountable for the hostage drama that took place in Springs earlier this month.

Nearly 500 miners staged a sit-in underground at the Modder East Operations for several days.

They demanded the reinstatement of 52 of their colleagues and for the Amcu union to be recognized.

Deputy General Secretary of Strategy and Sustainability at Solidarity, Advocate Paul Mardon, says the incident was serious and the guilty parties must be brought to justice.
